Job Purpose

The Manager, Fleet and Corporate Services will provide overall leadership, coordination, and control of the Logistics Unit, covering fleet management and uniform operations.

The role is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of the organization's fleet and drivers, as well as the efficient supply, manufacturing coordination, and distribution of uniforms.

The Manager will also plan and manage the unit's budget, monitor performance against targets, and lead, develop, and supervise staff to deliver cost-effective, timely, and quality logistics services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Fleet Management

  • Oversee effective management of the organization's fleet, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, available, and deployed according to operational requirements.
  • Direct scheduled and preventive maintenance, repairs, and servicing of fleet assets to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Supervise the Fleet Manager and, through them, the Fleet Operations and Fleet Maintenance functions, driver team leaders, and drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle licensing, insurance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate fleet and maintenance records.
  • Manage driver allocation, scheduling, discipline, welfare, and performance.
  • Promote safe driving practices and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Monitor fleet running costs, fuel consumption, and vehicle utilization.
  • Drive continuous improvements in fleet efficiency and value for money.

Uniform Operations – Supply, Manufacturing & Distribution

  • Lead uniform operations to ensure adequate supply, timely manufacturing, and accurate distribution.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end uniform manufacturing process with internal units and external suppliers/manufacturers.
  • Ensure quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met.
  • Oversee stock and inventory management for uniforms and related materials.
  • Minimize shortages, wastage, and unnecessary holding costs.
  • Ensure deliveries and distribution are efficiently planned and completed on schedule.
  • Supervise the Uniform Operations Specialist and Uniform Supply Officers.
  • Set service standards and monitor service quality.

Budgeting & Monitoring

  • Prepare, justify, and manage the annual Logistics Unit budget covering fleet, maintenance, uniform supply, and distribution.
  • Monitor expenditure against the approved budget.
  • Analyze budget variances and take corrective action.
  • Track unit plans and activities against agreed targets, timelines, and performance indicators.
  • Report progress to the Director.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure resources are used efficiently and accountably.

Staff Management & Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, motivate, and develop Logistics Unit staff.
  • Set objectives and manage employee performance.
  • Allocate work and monitor productivity.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels across fleet and uniform functions.
  • Identify training and development needs.
  • Support capacity building within the unit.
  • Promote a culture of safety, discipline, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports on unit operations, performance, and budget for management.
  • Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the Director, EAS & LR or management.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in:
    • Logistics
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Transport/Fleet Management
    • Business Administration
    • Or a related field.
  • A relevant professional or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of substantial experience in logistics, fleet, and/or operations management.
  • Experience involving supervisory or managerial responsibility for staff, budgets, and service delivery.

  • Sound knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, and driver management.
  • Understanding of supply, manufacturing coordination, inventory, and distribution processes.

  • Effective communication, reporting, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT and logistics/fleet management systems.
