As part of its expansion strategy, RwandAir is seeking qualified and competent candidates for the following position:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make spot decisions when necessary and promptly report to the relevant supervisor.
  • Conduct security operations during assigned shifts, including securing screened baggage, aircraft security searches and checks, aircraft on-ground security, and inflight catering security.
  • Report workplace incidents and accidents and support the implementation of appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
  • Ensure passenger baggage, cargo, mail, and courier items are protected from the warehouse to the aircraft and vice versa against unlawful interference.
  • Ensure proper screening of cargo and freight so that unknown items are identified and controlled.
  • Ensure the proper handling and carriage of firearms, dangerous goods, and valuables in accordance with established standards.
  • Report safety hazards and incidents identified during operations.
  • Report security threats and incidents occurring during operations.
  • Carry out specific duties assigned by the Security Manager – Operations or Security Supervisor.
  • Ensure security processes, systems, and procedures are implemented in accordance with approved national and international aviation security programs.
  • Liaise with other airport security personnel on aviation security matters to support effective implementation of the RwandAir Security Program.

Desired Profile – Education, Experience & Abilities

Applicants should have:

  • A minimum of a university degree in any field.
  • Sound knowledge of aviation security.
  • Good knowledge of criminal procedures and investigation skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills.
  • Risk analysis and threat assessment skills.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including reading and writing.
  • Fluency in English and one of the popular local languages; knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress.
  • Physical and mental fitness.
  • Good memory and ability to concentrate.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Assertiveness and effectiveness in carrying out security duties.
  • Good working relations with airport security and immigration authorities will be an added advantage.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Below 30 years of age.
