IAPS AI Policy Fellowship 2027 – Fully Funded
The Institute for AI Policy and Strategy (IAPS) is offering the AI Policy Fellowship Spring 2027, a fully funded three-month fellowship for professionals and aspiring policy leaders interested in building careers in artificial intelligence policy and governance.
The fellowship provides participants with practical experience, mentorship from AI policy experts, and opportunities to work on real-world projects related to the future of advanced artificial intelligence.
About the Fellowship
The IAPS AI Policy Fellowship is a talent development programme designed to prepare professionals to address the policy and governance challenges associated with frontier AI.

Fellowship Tracks
Research Track
The Research Track is designed for applicants interested in conducting substantive AI policy research.
Fellows work with a supervisor to investigate an important policy question, conduct analysis and develop evidence-based conclusions. Projects may lead to high-quality or potentially publishable policy research.
Applied Track
The Applied Track focuses on practical AI policy work. It is suitable for professionals from backgrounds such as:

Fellowship Benefits
Successful fellows may receive:

Senior Fellows: USD 24,000 stipend

Fellows: USD 18,000 stipend

Additional USD 3,000 for participants based in Washington, D.C. or London

Travel and accommodation support for the initial two-week event in Washington, D.C.

Exceptional candidates may also be considered for part-time participation.

However, all fellows are expected to attend the initial two-week in-person programme in Washington, D.C., from 22 February to 5 March 2027.
The in-person programme includes training, workshops, policy discussions, networking events and meetings with AI policy experts.
Eligibility
The fellowship welcomes applicants from diverse professional backgrounds.
Candidates with experience in areas such as policy, government, technology, research and academia are encouraged to apply. Applicants do not necessarily need previous policy experience or a technical background in artificial intelligence.

IAPS expects to select up to 45 fellows, depending on the quality and composition of the applicant pool.
The selection process may include an initial application review, a written task, a pre-recorded interview and a live interview for finalists.
