The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) is an innovative English-language undergraduate institution that prepares future agricultural leaders in Rwanda and East Africa through practical, experiential learning. Its curriculum integrates Conservation Agriculture, One Health, innovation, entrepreneurship, communication, and leadership, supported by hands-on training across six agricultural enterprises.
The Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) is implementing activities under the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) project on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), and Livelihood Development. As implementation progresses, the project is generating valuable evidence, experiences, lessons, and results that need to be systematically captured, organized, analyzed, and shared.
Therefore, RICA intends to engage a Knowledge Content Creator to strengthen project knowledge management systems; document achievements, lessons learned, best practices, and impacts; and produce quality content for beneficiaries, partners, policymakers, donors, and the public.

ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of the assignment is to establish and maintain an effective knowledge-management and content-production function for the project. The staff will capture and organize project knowledge, convert technical evidence into accessible communication products, support internal learning and external visibility, and ensure that approved materials are easy to retrieve and reuse.
OBJECTIVES
- Document project achievements, outcomes, innovations, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Create compelling, audience-appropriate content, including human-interest stories that demonstrate changes experienced by project beneficiaries.
- Translate technical information into clear, engaging, and accessible content for diverse audiences.
- Strengthen extension learning by facilitating the flow of knowledge among project teams, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all knowledge and communication products meet professional editorial, ethical, branding, and quality standards.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Support extension teams to capture, validate, and share knowledge consistently and on time.
- Research, write, and package feature articles, news stories, success stories, case studies, briefs, newsletters, blogs, and social-media content.
- Prepare publication content for extension events, presentations, reports, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Visit extension project sites to collect firsthand information and document progress and results.
- Conduct interviews with beneficiaries, local leaders, government officials, technical experts, and RICA partners.
- Gather photographs, testimonies, quotations, data, and supporting records to enrich and substantiate extension materials.
- Obtain and securely maintain informed-consent records for interviews, images, and personal stories, in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Compile stories of change, lessons learned, good practices, challenges, and emerging recommendations.
- Prepare concise reports and summaries of workshops, trainings, field visits, learning events, and other project activities.
DURATION
- The assignment will be undertaken over a period of six (6) months renewable, commencing on the date of signing the contract.
DUTY STATION AND TRAVEL
- The staff will be based at the RICA Campus in Bugesera District, with regular field travels as required.Â
- Travel arrangements and related costs will be handled in accordance with applicable RICA procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in information management, marketing, mass communication, business studies, development studies, or another relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of professional experience demonstrated in knowledge management, content development, marketing, journalism, development communication, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in designing or maintaining knowledge repositories, documentation systems, and websites.
- Excellent English writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel to field sites and work effectively in remote settings.
