Background Information Job Title: Full Stack Software Engineer Job Grade: JG G- Specialist Division: IT & Digital Innovation – Digital Innovation Unit Reports to: Head, Digital Innovation & Data Contract terms: Open ended contract  Purpose of the Job The Full Stack Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable digital solutions using modern JavaScript frameworks — Next.js on the front end and Nest.js on the back end — with a strong command of microservices architecture. The role writes clean, high-standard code, crafts intuitive UI/UX, and actively applies AI to accelerate and elevate development work. Beyond technical mastery, the role brings genuine curiosity and adaptability — rapidly learning and integrating new technologies, approaches, and methodologies as the landscape evolves. Main Responsibilities of the Job

Duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to:

  • Build end-to-end applications. Design, develop, test, and deploy web applications using Next.js (front end) and Nest.js (back end).
  • Design microservices solutions. Architect systems using a microservices approach — defining service boundaries, data ownership, APIs, and inter-service communication (REST/GraphQL, event-driven messaging).
  • Implement microservices. Develop independent, loosely coupled, independently deployable services with resilience, observability, and clear contracts.
  • Uphold high engineering standards. Write clean, well-documented code following SOLID principles and design patterns; enforce quality through reviews and automated tests.
  • Craft excellent UI/UX. Design and implement intuitive, accessible, responsive interfaces in close collaboration with designers, product owners, and users.
  • Apply AI to the craft. Use AI coding assistants and techniques to boost productivity and quality, and integrate AI/LLM capabilities into products where they add value.
  • Enable reliable delivery. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and monitoring for dependable releases.
  • Collaborate, mentor, and keep learning. Take part in Agile ceremonies and design discussions, mentor peers, and continuously adopt emerging tools and methodologies.
Performance Indicators
  • On-time delivery of application features and releases against agreed sprint and project plans.
  • Code quality: review pass rate, automated test coverage, and defects detected before production.
  • Reliability of delivered services: post-release defect rate and production incident reduction.
  • UI/UX quality and accessibility compliance of delivered interfaces.
  • Effective adoption of AI-assisted development practices and measurable productivity gains.
  • Contribution to CI/CD, documentation quality, and knowledge sharing/mentoring within the team.
Working relationships Internal: Digital Innovation, Software Development, Application Management, Service Management, IT Infrastructure, Database and Data Platform, DevOps/DevSecOps, Information Security, Business Analysts, Business units, Internal Audit.External: Application vendors, integration partners, and third-party service/API providers. Technical Skills — Back-End

  • Expert in Nest.js (Node.js) with TypeScript; robust REST and/or GraphQL API design.
  • Databases: relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis); ORMs such as Prisma or TypeORM.

Technical Skills — Architecture & Microservices

  • Designing and building microservices: API gateways, service discovery, and event-driven patterns (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
  • Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes); domain-driven design and distributed-systems concerns.

Technical Skills — Engineering Standards & AI

  • Clean code, SOLID, design patterns, and test-driven development; unit, integration, and E2E testing (Jest, Playwright/Cypress).
