The Alliance for Healthy Communities (AHC) is a Rwandan NGO dedicated to addressing critical gaps in health systems across Sub-Saharan Africa. AHC delivers evidence-based clinical services, comprehensive HIV/AIDS programs, and community outreach initiatives while building local healthcare capacity through strategic partnerships with government and donor agencies.
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Health Programs provides technical and managerial oversight for all AHC-supported health facilities, community outreach sites, and programs across Rwanda. The role drives implementation of clinical services, community health interventions, and capacity-building efforts aligned with national health priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Management & leadership
- Oversee program deliverables, technical reports, and statements of work
- Represent AHC in meetings with government officials, donors, and partner agencies
- Conduct regular field supervision across clinical sites and community locations
- Support staff planning, recruitment, budgeting, and grant development
- Mentor and supervise the health programs department team
Clinical services
- Lead health programs, and in particular, comprehensive HIV/AIDS services delivery
- Oversee community outreach targeting high-risk populations and youth sexual & reproductive health
- Develop treatment adherence tools aligned with UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets
- Organize training on national HIV protocols
- Monitor clinical and programmatic indicators and drive data quality improvements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports
- Lead other health programs as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Medical degree (MD); post-graduate training in Public Health, Global Health, Infectious Diseases, or Health Program Management is highly preferred
- Current national licensure in good standing
- Minimum 5 years’ experience treating HIV/AIDS patients or leading HIV/Health programs
- Proven track record in grant writing and proposal development
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French
- Demonstrated leadership in supervising multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of SPSS or Stata is an asset
- Rwandan Driving Licence (Cat. B)
