The University of Rwanda – College of Medicine and Health Sciences (UR-CMHS) has announced multiple employment opportunities for qualified and competent candidates across its schools and departments.

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences is one of the seven colleges of the University of Rwanda and includes the Schools of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, Medicine and Pharmacy, and Public Health.

Available Positions

1. Assistant Medical

Number of Positions: 5

The positions cover areas including:

  • Biochemistry

  • Industrial Pharmacy

  • Primary Health Care

Key Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Biochemistry

  • MSc in Industrial Pharmacy

  • MD, MBBS or MBChB plus an MSc in a Public Health-related field

  • Good command of English, both oral and written

  • Rwandan nationality

Publications in peer-reviewed journals and relevant teaching experience in higher learning institutions are desirable.

2. Lecturer

Number of Positions: 5

Departments/areas include:

  • Internal Medicine

  • Surgery

  • Anesthesiology

  • Emergency Medicine and Critical Care

  • ENT

Requirements:

  • PhD or Master’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or at least 70% in Medicine

  • Good command of English, both oral and written

  • Rwandan nationality

Sub-specialty training in areas such as Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, General Surgery, or ENT is an added advantage.

3. Senior Lecturer

Number of Positions: 5

Areas include:

  • Dermatology

  • Anesthesiology and Critical Care

  • Surgery

  • Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences

  • Orthopaedic Surgery

Requirements include:

  • PhD or Master’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or at least 70% in Medicine

  • At least three publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals

  • Good command of English

  • Rwandan nationality

Relevant sub-specialty training and a strong research record are desirable.

4. Assistant Staff

Number of Positions: 1

The position involves supporting academic, clinical and research activities, maintaining records, preparing practical coursework, assisting students and faculty, managing laboratory/clinical materials, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or at least 70% in Medical Surgical Nursing

  • Degree equivalence certificate where applicable

  • Good command of English

  • Valid licence for clinical practice

  • Rwandan nationality

5. Assistant Lecturer – Dentistry

Number of Positions: 2

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent with a distinction

  • Degree equivalence certificate where applicable

  • Good command of English

  • Valid licence for clinical practice

  • Rwandan nationality

6. Assistant Lecturer – Dietetics/Clinical Nutrition

Number of Positions: 3

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Human Nutrition, or a related field with a background in a clinical-related field

  • Equivalence certificate where applicable

  • Valid licence for clinical practice

  • Good command of English

7. Assistant / Tutorial Assistant – Audiology

Number of Positions: 3

For Assistant Lecturer:

  • Master’s degree in Audiology OR Speech Therapy and Audiology

  • Or Master’s degree in Rehabilitation or a related field with a BSc in Audiology or Speech Therapy and Audiology

For Tutorial Assistant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audiology OR Speech Therapy and Audiology

Applicants must also meet the applicable requirements regarding degree equivalence, English proficiency, professional licensing and Rwandan nationality.

Contract Duration

The contract is for two years, with the possibility of renewal.
