The United Nations (UN) has announced a vacancy for the position of Resident Coordinator, based in Kigali, Rwanda. This is one of the highest leadership positions within the UN Development System at the country level, responsible for coordinating all UN development activities and leading the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in collaboration with the Government of Rwanda and development partners.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Represent the United Nations at the highest levels of Government and with development partners.
Lead the UN Country Team in planning, implementing and monitoring the UN Cooperation Framework.
Coordinate UN support for Rwanda's sustainable development priorities.
Promote human rights, gender equality and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Build partnerships with government institutions, civil society, academia, private sector and international partners.
Oversee country-level financing initiatives and strengthen collaboration across UN agencies.
Lead strategic communications and promote innovation for sustainable development.
Provide overall leadership and strategic oversight to the Resident Coordinator's Office.
Education Requirements
Applicants must possess:
A Master's degree (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) in Development Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Law or another closely related field.
Candidates with a first-level university degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
More than 15 years of senior international leadership experience.
At least five years of experience in development, humanitarian action, peacebuilding, rule of law or human rights outside their own country.
Strong experience working with governments, diplomats and development partners.
Knowledge of the Great Lakes Region is considered an advantage.

French: Desirable
