The University of Rwanda Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026–2027 is now accepting applications for talented African students seeking to pursue a Master's degree in Rwanda. The fully funded scholarship is designed to support academically outstanding but economically disadvantaged young Africans, with a special focus on women in STEM, refugees, persons with disabilities, and youth from conflict-affected communities.
The program aims to develop ethical, transformative leaders who will contribute to the social and economic development of Africa through education, innovation, and community service.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
Apply for admission to an eligible University of Rwanda Master's program for the September 2026 intake.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Be a Rwandan or other African citizen.
Refugees must provide official certification from UNHCR, MINEMA, or another recognized authority.
Be 40 years old or younger (male) or 45 years old or younger (female).
Demonstrate financial need.
Show leadership potential and active community involvement.
Be committed to giving back to their communities.
Not be enrolled in another tertiary institution.
Continuing University of Rwanda students are not eligible.
Priority Groups
The scholarship gives priority to:
Students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs.
Women (target of 70% of scholarships).
Refugees and displaced youth.
Persons with disabilities.
Economically disadvantaged students with strong leadership potential.
