Job Purpose
The First Officer (Co-Pilot) will be appointed by RwandAir management to serve as the second-in-command on flights operated by the airline's B737, A330, or Q400 fleet.
The successful candidate will assist the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of every flight while adhering to international aviation regulations and RwandAir's operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Flight Operations
Assist the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in the safe and efficient operation of flights.
Carry out all assigned flight duties in accordance with approved operating procedures.
Monitor flight progress and maintain awareness of the PIC's intentions.
Ensure compliance with company operational manuals and aviation regulations.
Flight Monitoring
Actively monitor the aircraft's flight path.
Immediately notify the PIC of:
Flight path deviations
Non-compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Potentially hazardous situations
Safety Responsibilities
Perform duties according to company safety procedures.
Report safety hazards, operational risks, and occurrences.
Support a strong safety culture within Flight Operations.
Emergency Operations
When acting as Pilot-in-Command during an emergency requiring immediate action:
Make necessary operational decisions.
Deviate from standard procedures where required to preserve flight safety.
Operational Compliance
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of:
Rwandan aviation regulations
International aviation legislation
Company Operations Manuals
Standard aviation procedures
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Valid ICAO, EASA, or FAA Pilot License
Valid First-Class Medical Certificate
Valid Radio Telephony License or endorsement on pilot license
Current Type Rating on one of the following aircraft:
Boeing 737 (B737)
Airbus A330
Dash 8 Q400
ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or higher
No history of accidents or incidents resulting from pilot negligence
Minimum 1,500 total flying hours
Minimum 500 flying hours on aircraft type
