Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarship 2027 – Fully Funded Master’s in the Netherlands

The Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarship 2027–2028 offers fully funded master’s scholarships to highly talented international students from countries outside the EU/EEA.

For the 2027–2028 academic year, Maastricht University will award 18 full scholarships to outstanding students who have been admitted to participating full-time master’s programmes.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Living expenses: €20,150 for a 13-month programme

  • Living expenses: €38,750 for a 25-month programme

  • Full tuition fee coverage

  • Health and liability insurance

  • Visa application costs

  • Pre-Academic Training costs

  • International Student Ambassador Programme costs for the first block

  • Allocated accommodation under the scholarship package

Note: International airfare is not covered. Scholarship recipients must accept the accommodation arranged under the programme. Students enrolled in a two-year master’s programme are responsible for arranging accommodation for their second year.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be nationals of countries outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and Surinam

  • Meet the requirements for a Dutch visa and residence permit

  • Apply for an eligible full-time master’s programme at Maastricht University for the 2027–2028 academic year

  • Complete their master’s programme admission application by 10 December 2026

  • Meet the specific admission requirements of their chosen master’s programme

  • Not have previously participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands

  • Be 35 years old or younger on 1 September 2027

  • Demonstrate strong academic performance, with a minimum GPA equivalent to 7.5/10

Applicants should prepare:

  • Updated CV

  • Motivation letter

  • Proof of academic excellence

  • Personal statement explaining financial need

  • Reference letter from an appropriate referee, such as a professor, lecturer or employer

How to Apply

Applicants must first apply for an eligible master’s programme through Studielink.

After receiving their Maastricht University student ID, eligible applicants can complete the NL-High Potential Scholarship application through the university's scholarship application form.

Applicants should ensure that they complete the master's programme admission application before the scholarship eligibility deadline.
