Job responsibilities
• Conduct legal research on issues relevant to the justice sector and other areas of national priority assigned to the Institute. • Participate in the design, planning, and implementation of research and consultancy assignments undertaken by the Institute. • Review and analyse national legislation, policies, case law, international legal instruments, and comparative legal frameworks to support research activities undertaken by the Institute. • Prepare legal analyses, research papers, policy briefs, concept notes, and technical reports. • Participate in the development of research methodologies, data collection tools, and analytical frameworks for research assignments. • Analyse qualitative and legal data and contribute to the preparation of research findings, conclusions, and recommendations. • Identify and pursue research and consultancy opportunities by monitoring public tenders, calls for proposals, and funding opportunities. • Participate in research proposals, technical proposals, and expressions of interest in response to consultancy and research opportunities. • Contribute to the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals for research projects. • Support the development and periodic review of ILPD's research agenda and contribute to strengthening the Institute's research portfolio. • Contribute to the publication and dissemination of research outputs and other legal knowledge products. • Perform any other research-related duties assigned by the supervisor or the Institute's Management.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Law
2 Years of relevant experience
Bachelor's Degree in Law
5 Years of relevant experience
Required competencies and key technical skills
Research and publication skills
Survey and research skills
Having at least one publication in a peer-reviewed index journal is added advantage.
Demonstrate experience in research and consultancy, evidenced by successful participation in or completion of at least four (4) research or consultancy projects, supported by proof of services rendered
