What the Scholarship Covers

Each successful scholar may receive:

  • Approved airfare from their home country to the UK and return at the end of the award.

  • Full tuition fees covered through an agreement between the CSC and the UK university.

  • Monthly living allowance of £1,712, or £2,000 per month for scholars studying at universities in the London metropolitan area.

  • Study travel grant to support study-related travel within the UK or overseas.

  • Family allowance for eligible single parents, widowed or divorced scholars with children.

  • Additional financial support may be available for scholars with disabilities following an assessment of their needs and eligibility.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, applicants must:

  1. Be a citizen of, or have been granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.

  2. Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.

  3. Be available to start academic studies in the UK in September 2027.

  4. By September 2027, hold a first degree of at least Upper Second-Class (2:1) Honours standard, or a Lower Second-Class degree together with a relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a Master’s degree.

  5. Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.

  6. Provide all required supporting documents in the specified format.

There is no age limit for CSC applications.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Academic merit, including academic experience.

  • Quality of the research proposal.

  • Potential impact on the development of the applicant’s home country.

Applicants should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates how they meet these selection criteria.

Required Documents

Applicants will need to provide supporting documents, including:

  • A valid passport or national ID showing citizenship and personal details.

  • Full academic transcripts covering all higher education qualifications.

  • Certified translations of transcripts where required.

  • References from at least two referees, provided in PDF format and signed.

  • Other supporting documents required by the application system.

All required documents and references must be uploaded before the application deadline. Missing documents may result in the application being considered ineligible.
