Job responsibilities

POSITION: PROTECTION SPECIALIST Job Title : Protection Specialist Position Supervisor : Camp Manager Classification Level : 3.VI Location : Districts / Refugee Camps JOB PURPOSE The Protection Specialist will provide advice, support and resources to individuals and refugees’ families to help them handle their problems. She/he work with specific groups including children, the elderly and families in crisis, and help them to solve the problems they’re facing DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Under the direct supervision of the camp manager, the protection specialist will perform the following duties: • Identifying protection issues faced by refugees and proposing respective responses. • Work on a clear plan to deliver on identified protection issues. • Timely handle, orient, and advocate the protection issues among or for the refugees. • Regularly coordinate and monitor the protection responses or interventions being provided to refugees. • Ensure synergy and good collaboration amongst protection partners. • Enhance teamwork spirit and effective communication amongst the teammates. • Timely provide a report (of incident, formal…). Coordination of all protection activities in collaboration with partners; • Management of all refugee-related disputes and lawsuits; • Participate in the development of management reports; • Perform any other duty as may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Law, Social Sciences, Project Management, Management, Public Administration, Administrative Sciences, Anthropology, and Psychology with 5 years of experience in the field. Master’s degrees in Social Work, Sociology, law, Social sciences, Project Mnagement, Management, Public Administration, Administrative Sciences, Anthropology, and Psychology, with 3 years of experience in the field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Technical skills in communication • Knowledge in Refugee and asylum seeker protection principles • Knowledge in social protection programs • Technical skills in handling vulnerable groups • Key technical skills in partners’ coordination • Knowledge on humanitarian emergency management. • Fluent in English and/ or French; knowledge of all is an advantage
