Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Up to 3 full scholarships worth €38,500
  • Living allowance of €18,000 per year
  • Semester public transport ticket valid in Berlin and across Germany during the study period

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Apply for the Master of International Affairs (MIA) programme.
  • Be citizens of Sweden.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in:
    • International security
    • Security policy
    • German–Swedish relations
  • Intend to pursue a career in international security.

Required Documents

In addition to the standard Master's application, applicants must submit:

  • A one-page personal statement explaining:
    • Their interest in security policy.
    • How studying at Hertie School will help them achieve their career goals in international security.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with a Hertie School faculty member.

How to Apply

  1. Submit an application for admission to the Master of International Affairs (MIA) programme before the relevant admission deadline.
  2. After receiving an admission offer, applicants will be invited to access the Funding Application.
  3. Complete and submit the scholarship application within two weeks of receiving the invitation.
