Job responsibilities

• Provide expert legal guidance and oversight on cases transferred, extradited or deported to Rwanda from ICTR/IRMCT and national jurisdictions. • Ensure compliance with proper due process standards and international legal norms. • Assist in case preparation, strategy development, and legal analysis. • Review indictments and international arrest warrants pertaining to international crime cases. Liaison and Representation • When instructed, act as a liaison between the NPPA and other relevant stakeholders both domestically and internationally. • Engage with government ministries, NGOs, and international agencies. • Prepare and draft correspondence to various international agencies and embassies regarding international crimes • Attend and present at conferences, workshops, and trainings as required. • Represent the NPPA in international forums and collaborations related to international crimes. Research and Analysis • Conduct thorough research on international criminal law and related jurisprudence. • Provide legal opinions, memos, and reports as requested by the Coordinator of the International Crimes Department and Prosecutor-General. Case Management and Preparation • Assist in the preparation of cases, including drafting legal briefs, organizing evidence, and managing disclosure practices. • Assist in witness-proofing practices and support trial teams in pre-testimony preparation. Capacity Building and Network Establishment • Assist in the establishment of the East African Genocide/International Crimes Network. • Provide technical expertise and contribute to capacity-building initiatives within the ICD.
