The APU MEXT University Recommendation (UR) Scholarship 2027 is a fully funded scholarship offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for outstanding international students recommended by Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU).
The scholarship supports talented students pursuing postgraduate studies in Japan while promoting international academic exchange and global leadership.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
Full admission fee
Full tuition fee
Monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY (including housing support)
Round-trip economy airfare between the applicant's home country and Japan
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Apply to study at APU from outside Japan.
Be a citizen of a country designated by MEXT.
Be born on or after 2 April 1992.
Have a minimum GPA of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale in their most recent university studies.
Obtain a Japanese Student Visa before enrollment.
Important Notes
Applicants are generally not eligible if they:
Are currently serving in the military or employed by the military.
Previously received a MEXT Scholarship (unless they meet MEXT's exemption conditions).
Receive another scholarship that is not approved to be combined with the MEXT Scholarship.
Selection Process
Applicants must first submit an admission application to APU.
APU reviews all applications and recommends qualified candidates to MEXT.
Recommended applicants receive their APU admission results first.
Final scholarship decisions are announced by MEXT around the end of June 2027.

English language proficiency test scores (taken on or after 15 March 2025)

How to Apply
Interested candidates must first apply for admission to Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). After reviewing applications, APU will nominate qualified students for the MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship.
