Job Description

The Position:

The driver will contribute to the effective management of UNFPA activities in the area of Operations by ensuring smooth and timely transport of passengers, messages, and goods.

The Individual consultant will work under the guidance of the Operations Manager, and direct supervision of the HR and Admin Associate, the Individual Consultant will work closely with the Operations Unit and the larger UNFPA Programme and Operations Teams using UNFPA and national systems and tools to deliver development results.

Job Purpose:

The overall purpose of the consultancy is to support the Rwanda CO for business continuity in the Operations Unit for the period of Nine months between March and December 2026 and will be called on a need basis.

You would be responsible for:

The Individual consultant will provide driving services to UNFPA and support all logistical arrangement as follows but not limited to: 

  • Ensure that staff are safely transported and from various destinations according to the schedule
  • Ensure regular and prompt delivery of administrative services like dropping out going mails to their destinations and other office supplies.
  • Ensure active involvement in scheduling vehicle service and maintenance.
  • Fill in the logbook daily and maintain the registry of the daily mileage, petrol consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • Ensure that the necessary steps regarding Rules and Regulations are followed and respected in the event of an accident
  • Perform any other duties as required by your supervisor

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:  

  • Completed Secondary Level Education.

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • A minimum of three years of post-primary education, driver’s license, knowledge of the rules of the road and aptitude to make small repairs on cars.
  • Knowledge of basic car mechanics
  • At least 5 years with an international Agency with similar responsibilities.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken French or English
  • Previous experience with an international agency would be an asset

Languages: 

  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda. Basic knowledge of French is an added advantage.
